Catherine Edith Randall was born on the 18th November 1873 in Brighton. Her father James Randall was a policeman born around 1850 in Kirdford. Her mother Harriett Adsett was born around 1848 in North Chapel. Catherine was known as "Edie".

At the age of 19 she married Frank Engleheart Richardson in the parish church in Brighton on the 13th May 1893. Her residence at the time was 39 Albion Hill, and her father was given as James Randall (Police Constable)  The witnesses were Edward Evans and Alice Charles.

In1901 she was living at 62 Islingword Road, Brighton with Frank (a carpenter and joiner) and three children, Frank (5), Violet (3) and Charles (1).

They had seven children (see Frank's page for more details).

She went to live with her daughter Mabel Murray (a.k.a. Auntie May) and died in Newcastle. The picture below was taken at her funeral. Clockwise from top left are: Frank (Mabel's son), Raymond Richardson, Frank Richardson, Ronald Richardson, Charles Richardson, Joseph Murray  (Mabel's husband), Mabel Murray, Ronnie Richardson (Raymond's wife) and two of Ronnie's relations.  Of her children only Violet and James are not present (possibly predeceased?) . Unfortunately the distortion at the top of the picture (especially on Raymond) is caused by cellotape damage.

Ronald Richardson married Cathy (another Catherine presumably!) and was a carver.
